CNC Machinist

  • Full time based at Calder Vale Road, Wakefield, West Yorkshire
  • 37 hours a week
  • 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Thursday
  • 8 am to 1 pm, Friday

We are looking for a CNC Machinist to join our expanding team.

MAIN FUNCTION & SCOPE OF THE JOB:

Responsible to the Manufacturing Manager, the purpose of the role is to successfully run CNC/Manual machines within a heavy engineering environment.

MAIN DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Ensure machining operations and processes are effectively carried out by the approved manufacturing route and quality standards.
  • Actively pursue continuous improvements in assembly methods and techniques and make recommendations for implementation when appropriate.
  • Ensure all machinery and equipment is adequately maintained and regularly checked for lubrication.
  • Take care of measuring equipment and report on any defective, or out-of-calibration items.
  • Ensure all lifting and transportation equipment is used appropriately.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

E) = Essential;  (D) = Desirable

    Qualifications

    • Apprentice trained mechanical engineer (E)

    Skills and Knowledge

    • Ability to use manual measuring equipment (E)
    • Good understanding of engineering drawings and geometrical tolerances (E)
    • Knowledge of CNC programming (E)

    Experience

    • Experience working with a horizontal machining centre and Fanuc control (E)
    • Experience of working with Heidenhain controls (D)
    • Experience of working within the heavy engineering industry (D)
