Mechanical Fitter

  • Full time based at Calder Vale Road, Wakefield, West Yorkshire with the requirement for regular travel
  • 37 hours a week
  • 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Thursday
  • 8 am to 1 pm, Friday

We are looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join our expanding team

MAIN FUNCTION & SCOPE OF THE JOB:

You will be responsible to the Manufacturing Manager for carrying out the efficient operation of processes and instructions.

MAIN DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Working as part of a fitting team to build machinery from individual components.
  • Assisting with hydraulic pipework when required.
  • Maintenance of buildings or machinery if required.
  • Mechanically assemble manufactured and bought-out parts into sub-assemblies (up to 40T).
  • Working at heights whilst observing health and safety requirements.
  • Ensuring that assembly work is effectively carried out to high-quality standards.
  • Observe and comply with health & safety requirements at all times. 
  • Maintain tidiness in the workplace and good standards of housekeeping.
  • Take care of company measuring equipment and report on any items out of calibration.
  • Participate in training and/or mentoring of other employees when required.
  • Be willing to learn new duties outside the normal function.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

E) = Essential;  (D) = Desirable

Qualifications

  • Apprentice-trained Mechanical Engineer or qualification in an engineering discipline. (E)

Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of engineering drawings and correct tooling to be used. (E)
  • Working Knowledge of machine safety. (E)
  • Knowledge of working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems. (D)
  • Bench fitting/detail fitting skills. (D)

Experience

  • Experience working within an engineering environment. (E)
  • Experience with lift equipment such as cranes, slinging and lifting. (E)
