Technical Sales Engineer (Craven Fawcett)

  • Full time based at Calder Vale Road, Wakefield, West Yorkshire
  • 37 hours a week
  • 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Thursday
  • 8 am to 1 pm, Friday

We are looking for a Technical Sales Engineer to join our expanding team

MAIN FUNCTION & SCOPE OF THE JOB:

You will be responsible to the Technical Director with the role of driving sales and expanding our market presence by leveraging technical expertise and sales acumen.

MAIN DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Sales and Buisness Development

  • Develop and maintain relationships with our customer base, by understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Negotiate contracts and close sales to meet or exceed targets.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals and product demonstrations.
  • Research competitors to identify and develop the company's unique selling propositions and differentiators.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Address any customer concerns by maintaining regular customer contact.
  • Ensure any customer complaints are brought to a satisfactory conclusion

Technical Expertise

  • Conduct technical assessments and site visits to assess customer requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers, helping them understand the product specifications and capabilities.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Utilise the internal sales I.T. systems to support the sales function, costings, quotations and orders.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and project progress.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, forecasts and market analysis.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent technical/engineering background (E)
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English (E)
  • Valid driving license (E)

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong technical knowledge of heavy engineering products and solutions (E)
  • Must be able to read and understand technical engineering drawings, both metric and imperial. (E)
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. (E)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (E)
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail (E)
  • Have a hands-on approach (E)
  • Willingness to travel overseas to attend events/customer sites (D)

Experience

  • Experience working with subcontractors/suppliers and supplying quotes based on customer needs. (E)
  • Experience in technical sales, preferably within the heavy engineering or industrial sectors. (D)
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth (D)
  • Experience/awareness of NEC3/NEC4. (D)
