Craven Fawcett supports Young Referee Development programme for Scottish Squash
Craven Fawcett, a Group Rhodes company, has pledged its commitment to the future of squash by sponsoring a new Young Referee Development Programme. The announcement was aligned with the 2022 WSF World Doubles Squash Championships which was recently held in Glasgow.
This is the second time that Craven Fawcett has supported Scottish Squash, after sponsoring the Springfield Scottish Squash Open in Edinburgh in 2019.
Mark Ridgway OBE, CEO of Craven Fawcett, said: "We are proud to again be involved in sponsoring Scottish Squash. The Young Referee Development Programme is a really worthwhile initiative that will encourage more diversity within young referees coming into the sport. We are committed to investing in young people, both in engineering – through our apprenticeship programme and also in sport, with Scottish Squash”.
Maggie Still, CEO of Scottish Squash, added: "We are delighted that Craven Fawcett has decided to support Scottish Squash again and we would like to thank them for their generous sponsorship. We were particularly thrilled to announce the Young Referee Development Programme at the 2022 WSF World Doubles Championships which Scotland was honoured to host. Referee development is critical to the future success of the sport both domestically and internationally”.
The new young referee initiative forms part of Scottish Squash’s future development programme that has already produced several highly ranked players. Scotland are previous winners of the men’s event at the WSF World Doubles Championships and now has several female players making their mark on the international stage. The team is currently preparing for the Commonwealth Games which commence in Birmingham on the 28th July 2022.
