His Royal Highness The Duke Of Kent, KG recently visited Group Rhodes (in Wakefield). The event also coincided with the Company's 180th Anniversary.

The visit of the Prince to Group Rhodes celebrates 180 years of design and manufacture of innovative machinery. The Group is one of Europe's largest Original Equipment Manufacturers in its field, supplying an extensive range of machinery for Metalforming, Material Handling, Clay Preparation, Concrete Working and Special Purpose applications.

Operating from an 8-acre site in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, Group Rhodes regularly exports one third of its turnover to over thirty countries each year. During his visit, His Royal Highness inspected machinery destined for Thailand, Columbia and India, for manufacturing products as diverse as circulation coinage and pharmaceutical tubes.

Acclaimed for the innovative nature of it's product range, the Company recently won two awards at the 2004 International Machine Tool Show, in the categories of, 'Best Metalforming/ Fabrication Machine Tool' and 'Best Manufacturing System'. In addition to touring the Company facilities and meeting employees and business partners, His Royal Highness unveiled a plaque to commemorate the Company's 180th Anniversary.
